Which kind of visa is required for entry into Germany
To visit Germany, many world nationals may need a visa. Since 1995 when
Germany, as an EU Member State, also became a member state of the Schengen
Area, travellers can enter Germany with a Schengen Visa.
Explain
Schengen?
The majority of the
countries in Europe are part of the Schengen region of the EU, which is a
passport-free zone. There is the biggest free-travel zone on earth.
A
Schengen visa: What is it?
With a Schengen visa,
travelers can enter any member country of the Schengen Area and stay there for
up to 90 days for either business or pleasure.
The Schengen visa is
the most widely used visa for Europe. It entitles the holder to unrestricted
entry and exit from any of the Schengen member countries. There are no border
checks within the Schengen Zone.
If you want to study,
work, or reside in one of the Schengen countries for more than 90 days, you
must apply for a national visa of that European country instead of a Schengen
visa.
To
enter Europe, who needs a visa?
All nationals of third
countries that have not yet reached a visa liberalization agreement with
Schengen member states are required to obtain a visa prior to traveling to
Europe.
You should ascertain
whether you need a Schengen visa if you plan to travel to one of the Schengen
member countries.
